Any woman out there loves to receive beauty gifts for their birthday or as a Christmas gift. Of course, there are those uncertain times where you end up getting the wrong shade of eye shadow, or a perfume that's too sweet for you, so giving a beauty gift certificate can be a great option when you're just not exactly sure what your recipients like!

With the convenience of purchasing gift certificates from major beauty websites online like Sephora, Benefit Cosmetics, and Skinstore.com, you can now eliminate the fear of buying someone the wrong makeup accessories or skincare treatment. Buying beauty gift certificates online is so quick and handy, your recipient could use their gift the day you buy it! How is that possible, you ask? Some online providers give the option of sending the gift certificate via email, so they receive it instantly!

The greatest feature of giving someone a beauty gift certificate is that they will be able to purchase their beauty items in the comfort of their own home! Not all women enjoy going to the busy malls for their makeup shopping, and now they will be able to find their favorite products online and try out new cosmetics as well, as some sites offer free samples when you order on their website.

A beauty gift certificate benefits everyone! First, it benefits the buyer because you're saving time and gas, no need to drive out to the busy malls and stand in those long lineups! Second, it will benefit all your recipients, especially those who love to buy their goods online, and also for those who live out of town, plus many of your family and friends who just don't have time to head out to the mall and indulge in some personal shopping.

This year offering your friends and family the ease of buying their makeup and skincare products online this year, will be appreciated and remembered! So consider getting them a beauty gift certificate and give them the opportunity to enjoy the flexibility and convenience of obtaining their makeup products delivered straight to their door! It's a great idea, and you know you'll come out looking great!

Home Business Scam

Article Body:
When you work from home you want to be careful not to end up being scammed. There are six tips to recognize any scam. One should always use a checklist every time they consider an endeavor. These are things you will want to avoid.

1. Avoid deals you do not completely understand. The big print might make absolute sense or get your attention. It is the fine print that will be the determining factor though. The more important your deal the more important it is for you to read and understand the terms. If you actually read the fine print you might be losing more than gaining. Ask multiple questions and get legal help if need be.

2. Avoid deals requiring multitudes of money up front. Don't spend all at once. Make sure you will get what you pay for. You want to be sure that the golden egg in that basket is real before the scammer has your cash.

3. Avoid deals you are asked to do in a hurry or under the pressure of time. Time should not be important when you are making a business deal. Both parties will want to be sure they know exactly what they are getting into. If someone is trying to rush you in making up you mind it is because they don't want to give you time to realize it is a scam.

4. Avoid deals with people or companies you have never heard of or know. The best reference is that if you have no clue whom you are dealing with you should find out. Let them know that you will be checking out their business and background. Make sure you follow through and find out all you can. This will keep them from being able to lie to you.

5. Avoid deals that you are being manipulated or schmoozed into. If some one is trying to bully you, charm you, manipulate you to death, or anything else. Make sure to tell them you know what they are doing and walk away.

6. Avoid deals set up to look like a pyramid scheme. These scams are made to look like legitimate MLM and network marketing business but are illegal. The earlier people in the plan get paid with money taken from the new people. These companies have you spend thousands of dollars up front and claim you will be raking in the money in weeks.

The most important thing to remember is that if it is too good to be true than that is what it is, untrue. There is not a person on the planet that does not want to get rich quick. Some people do get rich quick, but not many. People who have more money than they know what to do with earned it over time with hard work. Or someone who worked for it willed it to them.

Anyone with a modicum of common sense knows that all those too good to be true solicitation e-mails and ads you see in the margins of high traffic websites for making thousands of dollars a week with no effort through a home based internet business can't be for real.  Yet there are still thousands upon thousands of people every year whose dreams of easy cash, early retirement and free living override their common sense and encourage them to invest in these home business scams.

As far as other tips for avoiding home business scams are concerned, there are a multitude of resources all over the Internet that list which opportunities are scams and which ones have real income potential.  Truly the best of the best tips for avoiding home business scams we can offer is to listen to the little voice inside you.  If that voice is telling you the scam's promises are too good to be true, then listen to that voice, because it's probably entirely correct!

Image Search

Image Search

Word Count:
510

Summary:
Just because we've so readily accepted search doesn't mean anyone thinks it's fully developed.  I offer only your typical financial headlines: Google does this, Yahoo does that, Exxon searches for oil – everybody searches!

Keywords:
search, engine, marketing, image, images, tv, advertising, ads, interactive, ppc, pay, per, click, yahoo, msn, adwords, sponsored links

Article Body:
The use of search engines in locating information has become so central to our daily lives that it is hard to imagine a world where one cannot simply "google" driving directions just before heading out to the car.  This availability of information, unprecedented in human history, is still a new concept, yet it has revolutionized the way we live, even in our humdrum, day-to-day activities.  Need a new recipe in time for dinner?  Conduct a search.  Forgot your anniversary and need a gift by tomorrow morning? Piece of cake.  It's become second nature to not only snatch instantaneous solutions from the Internet, but to trust that they will be there.

Just because we've so readily accepted search doesn't mean anyone thinks it's fully developed.  I offer only your typical financial headlines: Google does this, Yahoo does that, Exxon searches for oil – everybody searches!  Tech advances beget tech advances and search is still a work in progress, a particularly interesting work in progress.

The concept of search need not even be limited to alphabetical means.  Microsoft is firing imaginations with image search…for more imagery.  Somewhere in Washington State (I think) teams of cyber savants have been taking steps toward incorporating this imagery hunt functionality into the search engine.  The goal is to allow users to input an image file as the search parameter in order to return associated image results.

While the technical process admittedly remains mysterious to those of us not actually working on it, its aim of a searchable database free from the ambiguity of language is a beautiful notion, even if it's not the end all of search itself.

Let's say that you were interested in researching a fancy home furnishing company called "Hammer and Co.".  You'd open up your web browser and enter the name in the search bar on Google, right?  Your Search Engine Result Pages (SERP) will show hundreds of results…M.C. Hammer, tools, and the like.  There will be some, if not lots of, sifting to do.  But, were you able to input an image of Hammer & Son's distinctive purple tulip logo in the search field, you

may get a glimpse of Hammer's lovely wormwood designs.  Heavenly.

Engines utilizing "image search" will distinguish content, spatial qualities, pixel dimensions and placement, the size of images, and various other factors in its comparison.  While the technology is not quite ready to be unveiled for general use, Microsoft's purchase of Vexcel, a specialist in imagery, remote sensing and "photogrammetry" does bolster support for the theory that we are not far off from being able to take a photo of a stranger with a camera-phone and running an internet-wide search for that person instantly.

It seems the internet cannot be further leveraged to the end of radical technological advancement and social change, it is.  Web 2.0 expands infinitely outward into a world of possibilities that need only be imagined to become true.

Forum Marketing

Forum Marketing

Word Count:

Summary:
A short how to on Forum Marketing. Don't get banned for spamming.

Keywords:
Forums, Spam, Marketing, Community, Success

Article Body:

Forum marketing can be a bit tricky. You have to be subtle or you can get banned. Look below at the "long post" for a list of the forums I have joined. It is a good idea to read and post in each of them every day which I have been really lax on. Now that I am not trying to publish my articles every day I can start posting there again. Forums can be alot of fun because they allow for open communication.

Make a fun avatar

Say something cute and memorable in your signature and you will get a good and friendly reputation.

Steer clear of political and religious comments and threads and if you choose to post something there be sure to be extremely tactful!

If someone starts to goad you stop and don't respond at all unless you can be super super professional.

Read the whole thread looking for tips and opinions that can help your business. Then post if you have something meaningful to say.

Never post an ad on a forum!

Make sure that your signature has your link and talk about what you have learned or how your life is changed by "your opportunity" but don't use phrases like "Come Check this out!" or "Come to my site"

If you find someone who you think (from reading their posts) would be a good member of your team send them a PM and don't invite them to join up. Just say hi. Mention that you enjoy reading their posts and would like to be friends. Give them your MSN username or your email address.

After you get to know them a bit they will likely ask you what your opportunity is or for sure they will check out your site. You likely won't even need to invite them. Go to theirs and if they list a blog link add it to your bloglinker.

Be Friendly!

Be always on the lookout for people who you can connect with. Maybe they have a service that would help you market your site or maybe they are just fun people to get to know. Maybe they would benefit from your encouragment.

Forums are alot of fun and I have only posted about three days of posting in each forum and I already have two good leads from my forum posts. These are people who PMed me and asked specifically for Success U information. So I think it is a very good marketing idea.

Sign up for as many forums as you can handle.

Article Submission Versus Hosted Marketing Pages: An Internet Marketing Comparison

Article Submission Versus Hosted Marketing Pages: An Internet Marketing Comparison

Although these techniques are similar in appearance, each has advantages and disadvantages.

Article Body:
The quest for high search engine rankings (and the traffic that comes along with them) has spawned some new search engine optimization techniques of late, two of them being article submission and hosted marketing pages. Although these techniques are similar in appearance, each has advantages and disadvantages. Before we delve into the heart of the issue, a couple of definitions are in order for newcomers to the internet marketing realm.

Submitting articles requires quite a bit of unpleasant work. First you have to be an expert about your chosen subject (or have the ability to fool others into believing you're an expert). Next you must be able to write about your subject in at least a coherent manner. Then you must find article directories in which to submit your work, giving them and any possible viewers the authority to freely copy and distribute your creation.

A hosted marketing page is a cross between purchasing a one way link from a website and submitting an article to a directory. The website in question allows you to purchase a complete page from their site along with a professionally written article that has multiple one-way links to your site.

The main advantages to both techniques are the SEO-friendly links. Whether you submit your article to a directory or purchase a hosted marketing page, you will get one-way links pointing to your site. Because search engines love one-way links, your website will undoubtedly receive a boost in your search engine ranking. But, the biggest boost will come from links using keywords relevant to your site coming from pages written about a subject relevant to your site.

Here's something you should remember. In most cases, a hosted marketing page text link from a relevant, high PR website will be much more important to the search engines than a text link from a posted article in a directory. But, if you're a talented enough author to have your writing approved, it may show up in several directories as well as multiple authority sites. This influx of links could potentially outweigh the few links from a single hosted marketing page.

The disadvantages are pretty obvious. Writing and submitting articles, although free, can consume a considerable amount of time, especially if you are not comfortable writing professionally. On the other hand, purchasing a professionally written hosted marketing page can be very expensive. You should be prepared to shell out anywhere from fifty dollars to several hundred dollars per month, depending on the popularity of the site.

Here's the bottom line. If you have little time, little writing skill, and a large marketing budget, hosting marketing pages would be most beneficial to you. However, if you have some free time, some copywriting experience, and little to no advertising dollars, writing and submitting articles to article directories would be most beneficial to you.

Blogging: What You Need To Know About Defamation

Blogging: What You Need To Know About Defamation

Word Count:
1282

Summary:
Currently there are over 30 million blogs on the internet and thousands more being created each week. Assuming ownership of one blog per person, that's a minimum of 30 million people slinging around their personal opinions on all that exists under the sun. This is a good thing. The free exchange of thoughts and ideas is what prevents the world from becoming a stagnant pool of dictatorship with the appropriate green scum floating on top.

Article Body:
Currently there are over 30 million blogs on the internet and thousands more being created each week. Assuming ownership of one blog per person, that's a minimum of 30 million people slinging around their personal opinions on all that exists under the sun. This is a good thing. The free exchange of thoughts and ideas is what prevents the world from becoming a stagnant pool of dictatorship with the appropriate green scum floating on top.

However, to steal a line from the movie Spiderman, 'With great power comes great responsibility'. Blogging has become a way for the voice of the people to be heard. We must be careful, though, not to abuse our power through thoughtless acts that hurt the credibility of bloggers and blogging. One place that continues to be our Achilles heel is when good posts go bad.

In the United States, libel and slander are the two categories of defamation. In many states, courts have begun treating them the same as the only difference between the two is that libel is a false written statement about a person, place or thing that harms his/her/its reputation while slander is the verbal act of the same offense. Whether blogged on the internet or whispered offline to your mother, the common denominator is that what is said is false.

Since I'm psychic, I already know what you are thinking. 'The First Amendment of the US Constitution protects me. As long as it is the truth, I can say whatever I want.' Well, sort of. As crazy as it sounds, truth is not the silver bullet defense for every case of libel or slander. A judge may require that besides being true the information relayed is in the public interest to know.

So reporting that the CEO of a major corporation had been caught pilfering money from the employees' retirement fund would probably get dismissed from civil court whereas telling the world that your neighbor has smelly feet could get you into more trouble than you want. Even if it were true, why would it be in the public interest to know that your neighbor's feet could clear out Yankee Stadium?

Now, the First Amendment does protect your right to an opinion. If you think that the Mr. Squiggly Toddler Toy is a piece of crap, you are certainly free to tell anyone within earshot as long as you make it clear that it is your opinion on the subject. Likewise, if a person puts forth a negative sentiment with regards to their experience with you and it is clear to any reasonable person that it is their opinion, your legal recourse against them is severely limited.

Parody and satire are also protected. If they weren't, Saturday Night Live and South Park would have never made it past the first episode. And criticism of a public performance such as a symphony, a play and even a book is protected under the Fair Criticism and Comment clause.

Now the internet contributes some interesting layers of complication to the whole blogging shebang. Instead of being contained in a localized area, libel has the potential to cross international borders and not every country handles these cases the same. One of the major problems courts around the world are having to deal with is the one of jurisdiction. If I live in the US and I libel someone who lives in the UK where exactly does the case take place and who's laws do we go by? Several cases have set a scary precedent that leans towards being able to sue anywhere around the world for libel published on the internet.

Then there is the issue of third party liability. Say you are a responsible blogger who is careful about her posts to avoid a troublesome libel accusation. One of your readers posts a libelous statement on your blog. Can you be held responsible for that person's actions? Well, so far the law has only made provisions for internet service providers stating that they cannot be held responsible for how their customers use their services (as it pertains to defamation). Likewise, blog service providers such as Google and Six Apart would likely be immune to any lawsuits arising out of a person's use of the service.

Whether or not you would be held responsible may come down to if you moderate your comments. If you allow comments to be posted automatically, you may be protected under Section 230 of the US Code (for US Citizens). It may be a different story, however, if you approve comments before posting them. It could be argued that your posting of the comments equates your agreement to them. To date, no one has shown up in court to argue this, hence the fact that we are kind of forced to make it up as we go along.

Defamation is a tricky issue and one that needs to be tread carefully if one is to avoid landing in court. Here are a few tips to help keep you out of trouble. Note: I am not an attorney. I don't even get to play one on television. If you and your blog deal with some highly controversial issues or you're just not sure how much trouble you would get into if you published that post about your best friend's boyfriend, I recommend getting in touch with a lawyer to get the best advice.

   1. Change the names. By far the easiest thing you can do is to change or to avoid using the name of the person you are talking about and to strip away as much identifying information as possible. If a reasonable person can visit your hometown and quickly identify the "mealy-mouth cow" you blogged about online, you might want to do some editing.

   2. Make use of a disclaimer. Kevin S Brady has an excellent one on his website. Even something as basic as "By making use of this blog site, you agree that the opinions expressed are the property and responsibility of their respective owners" may provide some defense in the event of a lawsuit. (Check with a real attorney please).

   3. Consider writing your rant as a parody or satire. Extreme exaggerations that no reasonable person would believe are not considered defamation because, quite frankly, they are unbelievable. Be careful though, this type of writing takes a certain je sais quoi, and could easily backfire on you. Have a reasonable person proofread your entry to make sure it passes the believability test.

   4. Watch your language. Be sure to use wording that makes it clear that this is your opinion about the subject. Statements like, "That Mr. Squiggly Toddler Toy is a piece of crap" makes it sound as though you are stating a fact when in all actuality you are making a personal judgment about the toy. Something like "I think that Mr. Squiggly Toddler Toy is a piece of crap" or "That Mr. Squiggly Toddler Toy fell apart after the first use" are safe bets. At least as far as the law is concerned.

   5. And last but definitely not least, don't tell false tales. Now this may seem like common sense but how common is common sense these days? Really. If you feel the need to resort to lying about a person, you may want to seek professional help in examining why you want to do that. 'Cause chances are, it's not to protect the public.

Blogging is a great way to meet people and stay current in the world and doing so responsibly will only make the experience better. Stay safe, stay sane and most of have fun.

There are an ever increasing number of article directories springing up, attemting to take advantage of the popularity that has become of writing articles as a form of website promotion. What people can be unsure of however, is which of these sites to post their article to. In this article I write about the article directories which I use.
Ezinearticles
Ezinearticles was where I posted my very first article. It seems so long ago now, where in truth it was probably only around ten months ago. This directory was recommended to me by a friend and in my opinion is certainly one of the best. Each article is reviewed before being accepted, this is not true of many of the other directories, especially the newer sites.
When you search for the title of your article a few days after it has been accepted in for example the search engine google, you are normally able to see it highly placed in the results. One of the first articles I submitted was called stuttering and its effects, this article is still placed in the top ten of google after many months.
If you are only planning on submitting your article to one directory this is the one I would advise that you use.
Goarticles
Many people have told me that they prefer to use goarticles when looking for an article to add to their site. For this reason alone, I always ensure that I submit my article to this directory.
Articlealley
The thing I like about articlealley is that they also include the article you submit to them on one or two of the sister sites. This is without you needing to do any extra work. Additional exposure is always good.
Articledasboard
I have been advised that this directory is becoming increasingly popular and is one I should be posting my article to. The site has a page rank of six which is always a good sign.
Ideamarketers
This directory is my fifth choice in order of merit and has many interesting articles.
It is hard to know how many of these directories people should be submitting their article to. I have been given lots of different advice on this subject and have decided to come up with my own conclusion. I personally normally submit my articles to around twenty of these sites but always the five above.
These are the other article directories I use:
amazines
contentdesk
theezine.net
yeeheey
isnare
impactarticles
activeauthors
morganarticlearchive
articlefeeder
articlecity
netterweb
simplysearch4it
linksnoop
articlehub
articlelocker
The one thing to remember is to only submit original content. Private label articles are becoming popular in some quarters, however I would advise to avoid these at all cost.
I hope article marketing brings you as many rewards as it has for me.

A business opportunity weblog is a great reference to turn to when you have questions about starting or running a small business.  These websites are designed with small businesses in mind, and are geared towards the self-owned and operated business professional.  Run by individuals interested in the topic area, these websites provide a place to share experiences and ask questions – both for experienced owners and those interested in beginning their own business.  Full of content and interesting advertisements, these sites can be a great asset.

A business opportunity weblog might have many different content areas, but a very popular aspect of these internet magazines is the question and answer segment.  Here, people can write in with their questions and experts at the magazine or other individuals are able to provide feedback and ideas.  There are some commonly asked questions that, if you happen to share this curiosity, might provide you with insight and the necessary information to begin your own business.  Writing in can also provide you with answers to your questions specifically, and possibly many different points of view.

THE SEPTEMBER 2006 ISSUE OF SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN was dedicated to exploring the future of energy beyond the carbon era.  The editors share a sobering outlook: 'Decades may pass before hydrogen-powered trucks and cars relegate gasoline-and diesel-fueled vehicles to antique auto shows.'  Until that happens, we'll 'muddle-through' somehow. (Scientific American: 3)

But why does it take so long for some energy technologies to get from the lab and industrial applications to the service of consumers? Take solar panels, for example.

A high-street electronics chain in London now sells educational solar-power kits for around the £20 mark.  Serious, roof-dwelling solar panels that will power equipment in your home sell in DIY superstores at around £2,500. That's a price-tag for the wealthy or very committed, but at least consumers can push their trolleys past the technology

SOLAR PANELS HAVE ONLY RECENTLY APPEARED on the shelves of retail outlets, so you'd forgive them for posing as new technology.  But they're not. While England was priming itself for what was to become its most famous World Cup, a contributor to the July 1966 edition of Wireless World faced a copy deadline for the magazine. His name was D. Bollen, and he provided a circuit for a solar-powered battery charger.

As he put it: 'The ability of solar cells to convert sunlight directly into useful electrical energy has been well demonstrated in satellite applications. An advantage of the solar battery is that is allows true, unattended operation in locations remote from a power supply and…promises an outstanding degree of reliability.' (Wireless World: 343)

Over four meticulously-illustrated pages, Bollen goes on to provide a blueprint for a circuit that will trickle-charge a battery from a solar cell.  Bollen shows that you can run something that uses one milliamp of current for '2.74 hours' in a 24 hour period. He leaves us guessing what application he had in mind for this tiny current, but the rig could also have powered the bulb of a toy torch for a few seconds a day.

Still, the circuit is there and the date is mid-1966. Don't be distracted by Bollen's talk of 'satellite applications'. His circuit is a million miles from rocket-science – in fact it's the simplest of the bunch in this edition of a magazine that was pitched at everyone between novice constructor and electronics professional.

Someone with barely any experience could have thrown a demonstration version of this circuit together in fifteen minutes flat. And all the parts were available from specialist suppliers in London and south-east England.

The listed supplier for 'assorted selenium and silicon cells'   is International Rectifier. I contacted the company to find out how much a similar solar-cell cost at the time Bollen wrote his feature.

A single cell measuring about a centimetre by two centimetres cost four dollars, right up to 1966.  In his feature, Bollen describes various combinations between one cell and four, so the most expensive part of his circuit cost between four and 16 dollars, or about $25-100 dollars in today's money.
World's first solar-powered car: 1912

But what came back from International Rectifier (IR) proved far more interesting than price information. It turns out that the company had demonstrated the world's first solar-powered car - a 1912 model of the Baker Electric - as early as 1958. They achieved the stunt by making a high-output solar panel - less than two metres long and just over a metre wide - from a whole bank of little solar cells.

Commercial, industrial and military customers went on to buy solar panels from International Rectifier.

SO WHY HAS IT TAKEN ALMOST FIFTY YEARS for solar panels to reach our shops?

Southface, a non-profit, sustainable-living organisation based in the USA, point out that solar-cell technology has had been uselessly competing against the relative fall in price that occurred in the fossil-fuel market in the nineties.

But Southface believe that major orders of consumer solar cell units in countries such as Japan may finally signal the start of an era when solar cell production will benefit from economies of scale.

I hope so. In the meantime, it's anyone's guess how long will it take for the consumer-led technology revolution to swat our energy problems.

Getting your site on as many major internet "intersections" as possible, when you target the correct markets, will deliver ongoing website traffic to your MLM business. The repeated exposure will help:

1. Increase the Google page rank of your site

2. Increase the website traffic received when users do organic searches

3. Increase your exposure and visibility as an expert in your niche

Most important now is the relevance of your links. It is all about quality, not quantity. Link swapping, which was once very popular and widespread, has become almost obsolete.

An ideal link has these properties:

1. It originates from the home page of a high ranking web site related to the topic of your site

2. The proper keywords are contained in the anchor text of the link

3. There are only a few outgoing links on the the page your inbound link is coming from

Assuming your links adhere to these rules, here are a few more requirements to increase the effectiveness of your links in driving website traffic to your MLM business:

1. The more high ranking relevant sites that link to yours, the better

2. The more closely the content of those sites relates to the content of yours, the better

Here are five key steps for your link-building strategy:

1. Submit your site to the Web Directories.

For example, visit these 3 sites and submit your website:

There are thousands of sites just like the 3 listed above that allow you to add your site to their directory for FREE. Do a Google search for "add your link" This will definitely help increase website traffic for your MLM business.

2. Give away free content

Another effective method for increasing website traffic for your MLM business is to write quality original articles that other people can post on their blogs, newsletters and websites.

Your articles should always contain a resource box with a link to your website. If you are marketing an affiliate program, never use the affiliate url in your resource box. Instead, purchase a good domain nameand redirect it to your affiliate url.

3. Request links from other site owners with relevant sites Although this method is not as effective as it once was, it will still result in increased website traffic to your MLM business.

4. Provide testimonials to other website owners When your testimonials are published, it adds more credibility to your links.

5. Purchase ezine and newspaper ads This can be a quick way to expose a targeted audience to your link and get a fast influx of website traffic for your MLM business.

The person whose site has the most quality, relevant links wins the internet marketing game. Your goal is not just to increase website traffic but to also increase sign ups and sales. So make sure to use all of the methods for marketing your business online to achieve reliable and lasting results.
